Riptide Response

Giving back to the community is an essential piece of the Riptide culture. Every year the Waverly Riptide Baseball club strategically picks a special organization to recognize with a donation based on the proceeds made from the Annual Riptide Rumble tournament.

This year’s selection was chosen to be Batten 4 Drew, a local non-profit out of Gretna, Nebraska. This 501c3 is dedicated to raising funds for Juvenile Batten disease. The disease is described as being like ALS, Alzheimers, and Parkinsons all in one. The now Thirteen-year-old Drew Sillman was diagnosed shortly after he turned six and became blind that same year. His family started the non-profit Batten 4 Drew to raise money for research. There is currently no treatment or cure.

The dedication and persistence of the Sillman’s are the reason why Batten 4 Drew was chosen to be our special Riptide Response for the 2025 season!
