Purpose:

To ensure all coaches promote a safe, respectful, and positive environment for players, families, officials, and fellow coaches.

Expectations for Coaches

Respect the Game:

  • Demonstrate sportsmanship at all times.

  • Show respect for players, parents, opponents, and officials.

  • Accept umpire decisions without public disagreement or confrontation.

Be a Positive Role Model:

  • Lead by example through calm, respectful, and encouraging behavior.

  • Avoid yelling, sarcasm, or demeaning language.

  • Encourage effort, improvement, and teamwork over winning.

  • Ensure Player Safety and Development:

  • Prioritize player safety in all drills and game situations.

  • Provide instruction appropriate to the age and skill level of the players.

  • Promote fair playing time and development for all athletes.

  • Maintain a Drug-Free and Alcohol-Free Environment:

  • Coaches must not use tobacco, alcohol, or drugs during practices or games.

Communicate Effectively and Professionally:

  • Maintain open, honest, and respectful communication with parents and players.

  • Address concerns in private, not in front of the team.

Violations and Consequences

  • First Violation: Verbal warning from league or team leadership.

  • Second Violation: Written warning and potential suspension from one game.

  • Third Violation: Possible dismissal from coaching position.
